Domincan Republic overview
The Dominican Republic is a haven of soft sands and sunshine; the north coast, over looking the Atlantic, and the south east coast, lapped by the Caribbean Sea. Dominican Republic has immaculate powdery golden beaches, lined with nodding coconut palms, vivid turquoise seas and with opportunities for a wide range of watersports. The thriving port city of Santo Domingo has a restored colonial sector and a national theatre and art gallery. To the east, Los Tres Ojos De Agua is a cave complex with three lagoons fed by an underground river. The 17th century fort San Felipe and historic San Cristobal are also worth visiting. The four main resorts in the North of the island are Playa Dorada, Sosua, Cabarete, Bahia Maimon and Confresi, all within less than one hours drive from an airport. Or, on second visit, experience the South east resorts of Punta Cana, Bavaro, Bayahibe and Uvero Alto.
