US Virgin Islands overview

Not as well known in the UK market, the US Virgin Islands are nevertheless worth a visit. The 3 main islands offer something for everyone. St Thomas marries a natural beauty with a lively cosmopolitan air. The capital, Charlotte Amalie, has one of the most beautiful harbours in the world and is a major cruise ship port. St Thomas' attractions range from world class duty free shopping through to stunning vistas everywhere visitors turn, due to its mountainous terrain. There are some beautiful beaches too, Magens Bay being the most famous. St John has a different character, it is the smallest of the islands and retains a tranquil beauty. Long the haunt of the rich and famous, in 1956 Laurence Rockfeller donated land to the National Park Service. Nowadays, 2/3 of St John is part of the Virgin Islands National Park, ensuring that the nature of the island will be preserved for future generations. St Croix has a rich culture and history. A verdant hilly island, the countryside is dotted with greathouses and sugar mills. The main town Christiansted is an interesting mix of Danish and Caribbean architecture.
