In Amsterdam, take a guided canal boat tour, followed by a city tour and a photo stop at Rembrandt’s Windmill. Then set out cruising for Germany.

Arrive in Cologne and enjoy a walking tour through the city’s old town. Continue to 2,000-year-old Koblenz.

Day 4. Rüdesheim
Tour the incredible displays at Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum in Rüdesheim today.

Day 5. Freudenberg, Wertheim
Cruise to Freudenberg and travel by coach to medieval Wertheim to enjoy free time.

Day 6. Würzburg, Kitzingen
Today arrive in Würzburg and disembark your ship for a guided tour, including the Residential Palace. This afternoon, you may like to visit medieval Rothenburg, or alternatively relax on board as you cruise to Kitzingen. After dinner, enjoy a walk and a wine tasting.

Today, disembark outside Bamberg and travel into this World Heritage-listed city for a tour. Enjoy time at leisure, then return to your ship and continue your cruise to historic Nuremberg.

Arriving in Nuremberg today, perhaps take a medieval tour, or enjoy a World War II tour, visiting sites that played a pivotal role during World War II, including the Justice Palace and the Zeppelin field.

Arrive in medieval Regensburg and take a guided tour revealing the city’s architectural highlights.

Day 10. Passau - Linz
This morning arrive in Passau. Enjoy a tour, including a trip to St Stephen’s Cathedral, before cruising into Austria and on to Linz. After dinner, perhaps enjoy an evening stroll through Linz.

Day 11. Melk - Dürnstein
Tour magnificent Melk Abbey and enjoy a scenic cruise to Dürnstein, or alternatively, take a guided bicycle tour from Melk to Dürnstein. Later, sample local Wachau Valley wines.

Day 12. Vienna
Arrive in Vienna today and disembark for a tour, taking you to see Hofburg Imperial Palace, the Vienna Opera House and more. Tonight, perhaps join us for an optional Mozart and Strauss concert (own expense).

Day 13. Vienna - Bratislava
Cruise to Bratislava, where a walking tour will reveal the city’s major sights, including the Old Town Hall, Mirbach Palace and St Martin’s Cathedral. Alternatively, choose a Communist-themed tour revealing key historic landmarks. The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure.

Day 14. Budapest
After breakfast, disembark for a tour of Budapest that includes Matthias Church, St Stephen’s Basilica, the Fisherman’s Bastion, the Royal Palace and Buda Castle.

Day 15. Budapest, Great Hungarian Plain
Today explore the Hungarian Puszta region, the vast flat plain. Visit a typical village, where you will be met by horse-herds, take a ride in an ox-cart and marvel at the equestrian skills of the riders during a horse show. Enjoy a light lunch of goulash, the Hungarian national dish, before returning to your ship in Budapest.

Day 16. Mohács, Pécs
This morning, arrive in Mohács and travel by coach to Pécs for a tour, including a look at an underground excavation site. Then, return to your ship.

Day 17. Vukovar - Novi Sad
Enjoy a tour of Vukovar by bus and foot before continuing to Novi Sad in Serbia for a walking tour.

Day 18. Belgrade
Arrive in Belgrade. On a tour, see the home of the Patriarch and St Sava’s, Tito’s memorial, the Federal Parliament Building and Kalemegdan Fortress.

Day 19. Iron Gates
Today cruise through the Iron Gates, where the Danube winds past the Carpathian Mountains on one side and the Balkan Mountains on the other.

Day 20. Vidin
Arrive in Vidin and see the Baba Vida Fortress, guarding the Danube. Then travel by coach to Belogradchik to see the Roman Kaleto Fortress, on the north slopes of the Balkan Mountains.

Day 21. Giurgiu, Bucharest
Travel to Bucharest, Romania’s capital. See the Arch of Triumph, Athenaeum and Library and visit the Parliament Palace - the world’s second largest building. Following lunch, enjoy free time.
