Agra overview

Agra is the home to the perfectly formed Taj Mahal, which never fails to impress, with its stunning white marble dome and four minerats. This amazing construction took 22 years to create by 20,000 craftsmans and labourers and was a memorial to Mumtaz Mahal, Emperor Shah Jehan's wife. The Taj Mahal is decorated with semi-precious stones on the exterior, and delicate floral patterns on the interior. Also worth a visit is the enormous famous Agra Fort; from here Emperor Shah Jehan's, imprisoned by his son, could stare at his wifes tomb.
