Sri Lanka overview

Sri Lanka means “ Resplendent Land” and as soon as you arrive you are immersed in a culture so different and diverse that it can take a day or so to get used to. You will find extremely friendly and accommodating people and nearly everyone speaks English thanks to the British heritage. It is a country of contrasts; not only does it have some wonderful beach resorts but these combine very well with some of the Islands inland places such as Kandy (from here you can visit the Elephant Orhanage at Pinnewela) the tea estates of Nuwara Eliya and jungles around Habarana. As for hotels there is everything from modest three star establishments to top of the range five star such as Saman Villas. As you leave the airport there is a sign which reads “You are leaving Sri Lanka but you will return one day” I most certainly will!
