The old town of Puerto de la Cruz centred around a small fishing port, remains unchanged. Old houses in the traditional Canarian style and the fishermen landing their catches give it a charming atmosphere. It boasts excellent botanical gardens and a visit to the amazing Loro Parque is a must: best known for its magnificent collection of parrots it also houses a large aquarium, not to mention gorillas, dolphins, killer whales and sealions who put on regular shows, and
a snow-clad penguinarium.
