Kalkan overview

Lying in the south west of Turkey on the Mediterranean coast. Kalkan is a harbour town which oozes the flavour of Turkey. It has not been touched by mass tourism. More sophisticated than the usual resort town, Kalkan appeals to travellers looking for more than a "sun and sea" holiday. The heart of the village is a cluster of traditional, wooden balconied stone houses which have been converted into roof top restaurants, Narrow cobbled streets house exquisite boutique shops along with café and bars. Very strict building codes keep the town small and architecturally blended with the historic heart of the town known as "Old Kalkan". There are more restaurants along the marina, a perfect place for sitting watching the world go by with a drink.
The town has its own small pebble beach or you can head out of Kalkan to some of Turkeys most beautiful beaches Kaputas or Patara on a dolmus.
Accomodation here is mostly small family run hotels of a high standard with some particularly stylish properties. Kalkan is a great base for exploring the surrounding area with over 25 historice sites less than a 2 hour drive or boat trip away.
