Cape Town and its landmark, Table Mountain is a must for any visitor to South Africa. On a good day the table is there for all to see, on a cloudy day the table cloth is laid! Cape Town's newest attraction is the Victoria and Albert Waterfront - a working port which has been re-developed and now boasts a wide range of shops, restaurants and hotels. From here take the boat to Robben Island, Nelson Mandela’s prison for 27 years. Just outside Cape Town are Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens containing 9000 of South Africa’s plant species. If you want beaches there are excellent ones stretching the dramatic coastline from Capetowns' suburbs of Sea Point and Bantry Bay to Cape Point.
Hotels in Cape Town are of a high standard with many of the well known chain hotels being represented along with boutique guest house accommodation for a more homely feel.
Excursions can be taken from Cape Town to visit the Winelands or a 40 minute drive outside Cape Town will bring you the University town of Stellenbosch, Franschoek and Paarl for the 2nd part of your South Africa holiday. Most of the properties here are working wine estates set in spectacular scenery. Many of which have spas, horse riding, walks and fishing. It goes without saying that the cuisine and accompanying wine is excellent.
